I started Eden and Dane because too many beautiful properties were being designed as backdrops instead of living systems. Land that could feed a family, capture its own water, and appreciate for a generation was being planted for curb appeal and forgotten. My background is in Sustainable Architectural Design, and every project since runs on the same instinct: read the land first, build from what it already wants to be, and stay close to the work long after installation ends.
Every client is treated like their project is our own. That means it gets done right from the beginning, plants are warrantied, work is guaranteed, and we are reachable whenever something needs attention after the fact.
We also work alongside your architect, general contractor, and existing team. One more accountable partner on the property, not another variable to manage.
Land that looks fine and does nothing else.
A 5.8-acre estate, sequenced for productivity.
A working landscape designed around an existing apple block, expanded into a 40-tree food forest with layered berry, herb, and native understory. Duck pond and rainwater capture feed the growing system. Conservation program strategy layered from year one.

Dane is an incredible specialist with outstanding design skills who truly listens and acts on your needs and goals. There are simply not enough knowledgeable, dedicated people focused on making homes beautiful, sustainable, and regenerative. I'm really happy I began making my home work for me.
Dane is an out-of-the-box thinker and takes the client’s vision to a whole new level, delivering a landscape that is productive, sustainable, and rewarding. I highly recommend Eden and Dane for anyone wanting to increase property value, decrease dependence on store produce, and eat organically home grown fruits and vegetables for years to come.
Dane has been so purposeful and wise in helping me create a sustainable garden on my property in Virginia. His depth of knowledge, his diligence, and his dedication to making something beautiful and functional are rare today, and his concern for the environment, community, and the desires of the individual are demonstrated in all his actions. I feel that he listened to me and created exactly what I asked him to do, and then he went above and beyond by integrating elements that work with the flow of the existing naturescape. His intentional follow-up once the project was complete demonstrates his commitment to his customers and his integrity about delivering what was planned.
I enjoyed working with Dane to transform my front yard into a beautiful, functional space that combines native and edible gardening. He listened well to my vision and designed a layout with plants suited for my zone. While my neighbors prefer traditional styles, I am very happy with the unique garden we have created.
Dane came to my yard and created an amazing plan and design. He listened to all my wants and figured out how to make it happen all while being very efficient. We now have a great pollinator and food garden. I was very impressed with the young man and wish him continued success with all his future projects.
Dane helped get my family excited about the land we live on. My kids love running through the garden and pulling berries every week. It changed how we use our home.
I had an excellent experience with Eden and Dane. Dane’s knowledge, professionalism, and passion for mycology is evident. The guidance was clear, thorough, and easy to follow, making the growing process approachable even for someone with limited experience. Thanks to his expertise, I now have achieved some healthy harvests and gained a much deeper understanding of mushroom cultivation. I highly recommend this company to anyone interested in growing mushrooms, whether you are a beginner or an experienced grower.
Dane was an amazing worker. The yard looks great, and he is a true professional. I will be hiring him again and I recommend anyone with landscaping or permaculture design needs must use Dane.
Professionalism, punctuality, quality, responsiveness, value. Dane constructed a permanent cairn for my front yard and I absolutely love it. He did a great job making it look like it was actually balanced. Several visitors have already been fooled.
Dane has a great eye for natural form and works hard to get the job done. He has a rare balance of artistic eye and trade skill, and it shows in the work.
Eden and Dane also grows what it plants — heritage and grafted stock from our own nursery, plus digital guides in the shop.
Every property is read on its own terms.
Before a design is proposed, we spend weeks reading the land. Sun paths, soil layers, drainage, existing plant communities, wind patterns, microclimates. What follows is a working page from the earliest phase of an active estate project. This is what "whole-systems thinking" actually looks like on paper.
