Apple Tree
Heritage and disease-resistant varieties selected for your specific site, grown as the same stock we install on client properties, not a garden-center generic.
Apple is the tree most people think of first when they imagine an orchard, and for good reason - the range of flavor, texture, and use across different varieties is enormous, from crisp fresh-eating apples to dedicated cider and baking varieties. We select for regional disease resistance and genuine flavor over the handful of commodity varieties sold at most nurseries.
Apple requires more active management than many of the plants in our catalog, annual pruning, some disease monitoring, and thoughtful variety selection for pollination compatibility, but the payoff is a tree with real culinary range and a long, productive lifespan once established.
Planting & Growing Information
Good company
for your apple tree.
Real varieties,
not the grocery store five.
Most people have only ever eaten the handful of apple varieties bred for supermarket shelf life and shipping durability. We grow heritage and regionally disease-resistant selections chosen for actual flavor and use, cider apples, dedicated baking varieties, crisp fresh-eating types, a genuinely wider range than what dominates grocery store bins.
This does mean more active involvement from you than some of our lower-maintenance plants. Apple benefits from annual structural pruning, thinning young fruit for better size on what remains, and monitoring for the disease pressure common in humid mid-Atlantic summers.
What to know before you buy
Apple requires a second, pollination-compatible variety nearby, not any two apples will cross-pollinate reliably. We can help you select compatible pairings for your site during a consultation.
Rootstock determines mature size as much as variety does - dwarfing rootstocks stay compact and fruit sooner, while standard rootstocks grow larger and live longer. We can guide this choice based on your available space.
Planting an orchard, not a tree.
We work with other nurseries, landscapers, and larger residential or farm orchard plantings on bulk apple orders. Availability is seasonal - reach out ahead of your planting window so we can plan stock around your order.
